Saxophonist Daniel Bennett is most known for his unique musical mix of jazz, folk, and minimalism.  This "Folk-Jazz" style has earned the Daniel Bennett Group a dedicated cult following in both jazz and folk circles.  The Daniel Bennett Group has shared concert stages with Bill Frisell, the Charlie Hunter Trio, Billy Martin (Medeski, Martin and Wood), saxophonist James Carter, David Fiuczynski (Screaming Headless Torsos), and Denison Witmer.  The Daniel Bennett Group has recently performed live on Harvard radio's popular Jazz Spectrum show on WHRB 95.3.  The band has also made recent New England television appearances on The Music ClosetStyle Boston, and Sal's Show.  Daniel Bennett has toured Italy and Switzerland with the critically acclaimed world-music ensemble, Musaner.

Daniel Bennett began his career performing in Rochester, New York with jazz artists Ike Sturm, Ted Poor, and Joe Santora.  In 2002, Bennett moved to Boston to pursue a Masters degree in performance at the New England Conservatory  At NEC, Bennett performed with artists like Steve Lacy and Bob Moses. Daniel Bennett also studied saxophone with Jerry BergonziGeorge Garzone, and Ken Radnofsky.  In 2004, Daniel Bennett began to write compositions that employed folk melodies in a jazz quartet format.  Bennett’s chord progressions also maintained a unique minimalist quality, influenced by composers like Steve Reich and Philip Glass. The Boston Phoenix described Bennett’s style as, "an unusual folk-minimalist approach.”  This niche-oriented style helped to garner a devoted following across the United States.  The Daniel Bennett Group has released three critically acclaimed albums, A Nation of Bears, The Legend of Bear Thompson, and Live at the Thetare. Metronome Magazine raved, “the trio is so in sync with each other that it’s downright mystical.”  The Daniel Bennett Group can be heard at clubs and festivals across the United States.
